Hi! I am Maya!
I am the world's learning Qanun & Maqam mentor and I am passionate about helping Arabic music enthusiasts master maqam and taqsim. My revolutionary system cuts learning time by 20-30 years, eliminating the need for tedious music theory or any prior musical background. It's designed to accommodate busy schedules, even for those with full-time jobs and limited time.
I am a multi award-winning Syrian qanun player. (and yes I studied and grew up there). During my 30+ years career , I taught qanun and maqam in universities in Oman and the UK.
Over the past years, I have helped 100s of Arabic music enthusiasts from all over the world effortlessly recognise maqam by ear, deepen their connection with Arabic music and ultimately perform an authentic taqsim in record time.
As a composer and a internationally acclaimed performer, I have been dubbed by the BBC as 'Queen of The Qanun'.
